Greek Yogurt Ranch Dip Recipe

This greek yogurt ranch dip recipe is a creamy, herby ranch-style dip made with Greek yoghurt, fresh chives and dill, garlic, and lemon juice. It's quick, reliable, and genuinely useful all week.

I love recipes that earn their place in the fridge. This one does snack boards, wraps, salads, and burger nights, all from the same little jar. Also try my 3 ingredient chili cream cheese dip for game nights.

Why it works

  • Fresh chives and dill give proper ranch flavour, bright and savoury.
  • A quick rest makes it taste more like "real ranch" with zero effort.
  • One base, two jobs, keep it thick for dipping, loosen it for dressing

Why you'll love it

I tested a few versions and the dried-herb one just didn't hit. Fresh herbs are the difference between "fine" and "where has this been all my life?"

Fresh chives half chopped on board with chef’s knife.
  • Ready in 5 minutes, no blender, no fuss.
  • Creamy and tangy, without mayo.
  • A simple way to add a little extra protein to snacks and meals.
  • Meal-prep friendly, it keeps well for days

Greek yoghurt ranch dip ingredients on wooden board, chives, dill, lemon.

You only need a handful, and they're all easy to find.

  • Greek yoghurt (thick is best) - I use a high protein Greek yoghurt brand.
  • Fresh chives
  • Fresh dill
  • Garlic (fresh or powder) I use fresh
  • Lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper

See recipe card for quantities.

  1. Taste + season: Taste the dip, add salt if needed, then stir again.

Quick fixes (if something's off)

  • Too thick: stir in 1 teaspoon of water at a time until it loosens.
  • Too thin: add a spoon of yoghurt and rest it again, it thickens as it sits.
  • Tastes flat: add a pinch of salt, then rest 10 minutes and taste again.
  • Too tangy: add a spoon of yoghurt to soften it.

Make it a dressing (Greek yogurt ranch dressing)

If you want a Greek yogurt ranch dressing, you don't need a new recipe. Just thin this one.

  • For a thick dip: leave it as-is.
  • For a pourable dressing: add 1 to 3 teaspoons water, a little at a time, until it drizzles.
  • For a light drizzle: add 1 tablespoon water, whisk well, then taste.

That's your ranch dressing using Greek yogurt, same flavour, just a looser texture. It also works beautifully as a Greek yogurt ranch salad dressing over chopped salads and wedge salads.

FAQ

Can I use dried herbs instead of fresh?

You can, but it won't taste as fresh. If you can, use fresh chives and dill, it's worth it.

Why does my yogurt ranch dressing taste flat?

It usually needs salt and a rest. Give it 10 minutes, then taste again.

Can I make it into Greek yogurt ranch dressing?

Yes. Add water a little at a time until it's pourable, then stir well. Start with 1 to 3 teaspoons.

Is it a dip or a greek yogurt ranch salad dressing?

oth. Keep it thick for dipping, thin it slightly for salads.
